Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Semperia.

How does Semperia work?+
You record a video, voice, or text message, and we store it securely. You receive a physical QR magnet that you can place anywhere visible. When someone scans it, you are notified and can approve or deny access to your messages.
How secure are my messages?+
Your messages are encrypted at rest and in transit. Semperia is designed for EU privacy expectations with GDPR rights, QR approval, export and deletion controls.
What happens when someone scans the QR code?+
You receive an instant notification via SMS and email. You have a configurable period (1-7 days) to approve or deny access. If you don't respond, access is automatically granted — this ensures your loved ones can always reach your messages.
Is this a subscription?+
No recurring subscription is required for the current plans. You pay once for a defined plan with clear storage and usage limits.
What is a Family Vault?+
Family Vaults allow you to create separate, private vaults for your family members. Each member gets their own secure space where they can store their own messages. Available with Family and Legacy plans.
Can I update my messages after creating them?+
Yes, you can edit, re-record, or delete your messages at any time while your account is active. Your vault remains under your full control.
What is a Trusted Contact?+
A Trusted Contact is someone you designate to also be notified when your QR code is scanned. They can also approve or deny access, providing an extra layer of security. Available with Family and Legacy plans.
What happens to my data if Semperia shuts down?+
Your messages don't depend on us being here. Full account export in open formats (MP4, MP3, text) works anytime, part of every payment funds a storage reserve, and if we ever closed we commit to advance notice and automatic export. We describe the exact mechanisms on the Trust & longevity page.
What happens after I'm gone — who approves the scan?+
You don't have to be there. When someone scans your QR magnet, you (or your trusted contact) get a notification to approve it. If no one responds within the window you choose (1–7 days), the message is released automatically — so your words still reach the right person even when you no longer can.
Who is the trusted contact, and what can they do?+
Your trusted contact is the person you name to act on your behalf. They're notified when your magnet is scanned and can approve or decline access if you can't. They never see the content of your messages unless those messages are addressed to them — think of them as a guardian of the handoff, not a reader of your vault. (Available on Family and Legacy.)
What if no one ever scans it, or my trusted contact has also passed?+
The vault stays sealed and safe — nothing is deleted. The magnet is meant to be kept where your family will find it (a fridge, a keepsake box, with your documents). Because release can happen automatically once the approval window passes, a message is never locked forever waiting on one person — and you can attach the same vault to more than one magnet so there's more than one path to it.
